Golden Trails

Watercolour and Gold Leaf. 
 
This artwork, created in 2014, remains one of my favourite pieces. Inspired by the japanese art Kintsugi, whereby broken objects are fixed with gold. Making them stronger and more beautiful than before.
The artwork depicts the colourful yellow bricks of my childhood home, I backfilled their fissures with golden paint and photographed them, before transformed the images into a watercolour adn gold painting. 
 
Over 10 years later, through Kintsugi, the theme of God repairing our lives with his gold remains the most prevelant in my work. Thus, this artwork has become a golden glimmer of his hand moving over my artistic heart and thoughts even before I was aware of it.
